Wheat grass is a natural source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, C, E, K and B-complex, and iron, calcium, magnesium, and selenium. It also contains chlorophyll, amino acids, bioflavonoids such as apigenin, and phenolic compounds.  Wheat grass is prepared by sprouting wheat seeds in water for 7–10 days before harvesting the leaves. Because the leaves are fibrous and difficult to digest, the juice from the leaves is extracted and consumed raw. Proponents believe the enzymes responsible for detoxifying the body are deactivated by the cooking process. Wheat grass is also marketed as a nutritional supplement in powder form.  Nausea has been reported following consumption of wheat grass juice. Because it is consumed raw, microbial contamination is also a concern.  I have found that wheatgrass powder is more potent and bioavailable than extracting the juice yourself, and likely safer given concerns over mold and other contamination.   Note the interesting testimonial below:

74-year old Danny MacDonald from Ireland, was diagnosed with stomach cancer and doctors predicted he had only 3 months left.

Since he had nothing to lose, Danny decided not to do chemotherapy and try living his life using alternative methods. After 4 years he feels vital thanks to the wheatgrass juice (young wheat stalks).

“I told the doctors I wasn’t prepared to undergo the course of treatments they had suggested,” Danny is quoted as saying by Sunday World. “I knew it would kill me. They were furious I had come to that conclusion. The consultant warned me I’d be dead in three months.I did not know what to expect but I was determined. In just 7 days I started feeling better and the itchy feeling disappeared. At that moment I stopped taking the pills doctors prescribed  me.”

A month later all the pain disappeared and I knew I was getting better” — explains MacDonald in the interview for “Sunday World”.

Danny started with 28 g juice per day and kept taking higher doses. Also he has gained back all the weight he had lost as a result of using them for his illness.

“I know many people who think that wheatgrass can not kill cancer, but I am a living proof for its power” – repeated Danny MacDonald.

This man effectively cured his cancer and now he is a living proof to the life regenerating power of the amazing wheatgrass.
